Didja miss me? ;-)

Boy, am I glad THAT’s over. Except it really isn’t.

Spent the last week (in between making wireframes, writing copy and doing website audits) migrating this rather enormous blog from one hosting service to another. Also moved a bunch of smaller web properties and domains, shifted my primary emails (and my family’s emails as well) and hauled a gazillion or so databases and small web applications and widgets along for the ride.

Or in other words, I made a helluva mess.

Actually, it wasn’t too bad, but there are still some files that didn’t come over in the WordPress migration, which tended to choke around the 250th post and so had to be done in stages. Knitting the imported files back together has taken the better part of two days. It’s given me new incentive when it comes to lengthy, image-filled posts, anyway.

I expect I’ll be futzing and repairing for the next couple of weeks, but it looks as though things are pretty much moved. Once I’m sure everything’s stable, I’ll start the redesign. For now, though, I wanna go look at somebody else’s website for awhile…
