Well, there isn't a cat in my future for a very long time, unfortunately (although many people have kindly offered me several and some have gotten quite insistent about it). But thanks for the info. I have had several rescue animals, including a racetrack greyhound, and I know how wonderful they can be.

And yeah, my mom and I were curious about the hypoallergenic bit, so we looked it up...and headed off in an entirely different direction. That's the next blogpost.

the cat rescue i work at has a couple of cats that shoulder-ride; one that even wraps around your neck like a stole. if you bend down to work on something low, they'll curl up on your back and fall asleep. bengals always get adopted out quickly, although we have a 1/2 mix bobcat which was feral and haven't been able to get nearer than 4' in 6 months.

no cat or dog is truly hypo-allergenic, btw. they may be less apt to cause an allergic reaction.

if you want a purebred of any type, just put a word out at your local rescues (generic or single breed) and have them call you when one comes in. we get lots of turn-ins from people going to retirement homes or who have died.

What a cool cat and Jim seems like a very nice guy. I can imagine you would be tempted to get one of those kittens having just lost Rajah. Bing certainly has distinctive markings and what a great personality. Smart too! Thanks for sharing.
