Same thing happened to me, same ex-employer.  I too called AMEX, but must have spoken to a different person.  The answer I got was, &quot;The statement was sent just to confirm that your account is cancelled.&quot;  Nowhere on the statement did it say &quot;Cancelled&quot;.

Oh well... maybe they got enough annoying phone calls to stop things like that from happening in the future.  On the other hand, probably not!

		<description>In this Sundays Oregonian newspaper a story told of a New Zealand couple who applied for a $61,000 credit line, was approved and then was given a $6.1 million one. They immediately wrote a check and took off to Hong Kong. The bank recovered $1.7 mil and the authorities are looking for them and the balance now! I had an attorney friend once say that if you are going to do a crime make sure the amount is enough to justify the punishment if you get caught, this must have qualified for this couple.
